There were three ghosts in KIS middle school building for trick or treat. Then, more ghosts came in and added unknown g amount of trick or treat jack candies. Two students were starving to death so they separated the amount of candies into two. Then, six candies were delivered by the trick or treat ghost. Now, there were eighteen candies in total in the trick or treat jack o’ lantern box. How many unknown candies were in g amount?
1. Yes, we think the equation fits with the story and we also think it is functional. Plus, we think that we would write the right equation after reading this story. 2. It does make sense but we think they could have been even more creative because only ghosts delivered the candy. :) But when they said that they divided it into two, they just said right away that six candies were delivered but we think they should have put something saying what happened to half of the candy. 3. Yes, there are grammatical mistakes like in the second sentence; they just said ‘trick or treat jack candies’ but we think that saying ‘pieces of trick or treat candy’ would have made more sense. But this is what we think! 4. Yes, we think that it was creative, because it included delicious candy and it had a Halloween theme that goes with the time of the year it is! It could be made better by adding more descriptive sentences about the ghosts or how delicious the candy was. Plus, the candy only came from ghosts! How about some witches, goblins, etc.? 5. The positive points about the word problem is that it was creative and clear.
1.The story does not fit the equation. Because, when it says ‘Two students were starving to death so they separated the amount of candies into two.’ means that the children divided the candy, but still took all. Also, it says that there were three ghosts in the beginning, but it didn’t say that they put in any candy or anything. I think it’s not functional, and I would be very confused of how to write the equation.
I don’t understand what they are trying to say. I was confused whether they were looking for the number of ghosts, or the number of candies.
Just some minor mistakes like commas and a few stuff.
The story is creative and I can’t suggest any more things.
5. The positive points of this problem, is that It’s was enjoyable and creative.
