Invent a new review game for the end of a chapter. How would it be structured? Would there be a clearly-defined winner? Make sure this game incorporates EVERYONE in the class, where everyone is actively reviewing the material on some level.
(This blog will be graded based upon the thoughtfulness of your answer.)
The game I would make would be treasure hunt.
ReplyDeleteMr.Jobe would hide the papers with math questions on
1. 3 people in 1 group.
2. Only one treasure at a time
3. The group who gets the most treasures would win
4. You should takes turns answering the questions
My new Review Game is called the Solve It! game. It would be structured with a few teams that have an even amount of students on each side. It doesn’t matter how many teams there are as long as there are an even amount of students. But this doesn’t mean that there can be 5-7 teams! Each team will have an exciting team name. To make sure everyone goes out, you can only send out one person one time only. The same person can not be sent out again unless the teams are uneven which would rarely happen. Each team would send out one person to solve a problem given by the teacher reviewing something in our current unit. The problems should be hard enough to that each student will have to think hard. The first student that solves the problem and gets the right answer will win the round. The rest of the students will lose the round along with points. Every time one student gets a question right, points are given to that team. Every time a student gets the incorrect answer, points are taken away. The amount of points given or taken away will be determined by how hard it is. The teacher would probably decide that. There would not be a clearly defined winner, just a winning team. This game could be done several times with different students on each team.
ReplyDeleteThe review game that I thought about is Dot math game. There are dot that if you solve the problem you can connect the line to the answer if you think the answer is right then draw a line to the next question. If you finish all the answer there will be a picture any picture if you all connect it. Then if you were the first one to have a picture you say PICTURE out loud like Bingo. Then you are the winner of this game. You can get a prize or something. This game will have 2 rounds. If you say picture and you get a problem wrong then you got to do it again from the wrong place even though other question was right. Therefore, be-careful!
ReplyDeleteThe real One
ReplyDeleteThe review game that what I thought about is Dot Word Math game. What you do is this you make a team each team has 3 people. First, your group have each sheet of paper with dots and short problems that we learned. Everyone have each paper. In the group try to solve their words. There are problems and after you are finished with that problem and you are very sure then draw line to the other question. I am telling you this because if you get wrong the middle then you got to do again from the wrong place even though other problem is all right. Therefore, BE-CAREFUL! If everyone is done they get checked by Mr. Jobe. Then if everyone in their group get right you got to shout out loud the word that you have. Each student have only one word. Then Mr. Jobe say the Result. The winner is blah~ blah~ blah. The group that win the game will have a prize.
How about that we make a speed game, one that requires everyone to finish a set of problems. The person who finishes first correctly will move on to the next round. For example, if there are 8 students, two students who finished last will be eliminated. But they will be in the losers’ tournament, the winner gets another chance to compete. As people gets eliminated, the problems become harder. The winner will get a candy :) But there will be different tournaments like a tournament for the first section of the chapter, a tournament for the second section of the chapter and so on. The final tournament will be on the whole chapter, so it will be like a test. If a person gets a problem wrong, they just have to keep working on the question until they get it right. If there are students finishing at the same time, they will have to solve a bonus question. But if the situation happens again in the bonus question they will have to go to the losers’ tournament and two winners will go back into the tournament.
ReplyDeleteThe game I thought of is called ‘Creation of Decimals’. To start off, make 2 teams and divide each team into 2 rows, and each row would get one paper. You also need to choose a representative for one team. The first person in the row would write the ones place of a decimal (Any number), and pass it on to the next person. The next person would write the tenth place, the next person would write the hundredth and so on until the paper reaches the representative, and the representative would combine the two decimals made by their team and add them. The row that solves the problem fastest and correctly is the winner. The rule you should keep: You cannot write one number twice on the paper, and you are also not allowed to write 0.
ReplyDeleteIn my review game, the whole class should divide into 2~3 teams. And then one person from each team should come out and start answering the questions that Mr. Jobe gives us. Each player will only have one turn. When a player wins that team will get a point. If there are not that many people, we could have one pair of people solve 3 questions instead of 1. After all the players have a try, the team with more points wins.
ReplyDeleteThe game which I made up was hard mathopoly. Up to 4 or more members can team up and play this game. To play this game, you need a dice and an item which represents you. It would be structured just same as a normal monopoly just that instead of cities, it would be math problems. But, there is one thing different. When you get a question and you failed to get the right answer, you go back 2 steps while when you get correct, you go 2 steps forward. For going to Jail, it would be solving a hard problem or waiting 3 turns. To win this game, you need to go around 2 times and the person who comes in early wins!
ReplyDeleteMy name of the reviewing game of this chapter is called “ The Survivor ” I named this as survivor because this reviewing game is basically a game of who be the last one to survive. This game is an individual game. The material you will need is a white board marker ,white board and whiteboard eraser. So, this is the way the game works. First, Mr. Jobe will pick any numbers from 1 ~ 15. Then our class will choose any number and if the person has the closest number, that person will start first. That first person has to choose any one topic such as, fraction, mean, median, mode, range, decimal question and make up one and write it on the board. You need to know your answer to your question. But you must write the question in 2minute. Then, the first person (person who wrote the question) calls out any name of the other classmates and that classmate that his/her named was called has to solve that question. When she/he is done, you have to check answers with the person who was writing a question and a person who was answering the questions. If she/he is right, the person who was answering the question has to think of any question about the chapter 1 topic and gives the problem to another student in your class. But, if she/he is wrong, you have are out of this game and you have to sit out. As this game is a survival, you continue the game on and on until one survivor is left. That’s how you win this game. Also, if there are only 2 people left, you have to verse each other until one dies (gets out). <----- MUA GÄMĚ :D
ReplyDeleteTitle: Murder’s game series: Dead vs. Alive
ReplyDeleteThis game is a very similar game to the game Murder but the mathematics will be included.
Before the game starts:
You need to sit around in a circle unless everyone is able to look at each other in their seats you can sit on your own desk.
Then, everyone has to duck down and Mr.Jobe will go around and tap the murder in the right shoulder. You are not suppose to tell who the murder is.
Murderer’s job: should scan their eyes around the people and stick their tongue out and in as quick as you can. The murder should try not to get caught by the people.
Next, if someone gets the tongue power from the murderer, you need pretend you’re dead but you have to open your eyes. After, when dead people increase as a number of three people, the three dead people has to make 8 questions for the alive people including Mr.Jobe. Or 7 of Mr.Jobe doesn’t want to be participated in this game. :P Thats the bad luck for the dead people but there will be a worse luck for the alive people. The alive people has to answer the questions. If they get the questions wrong, they are also dead.
If there are more than three people who becomes dead because they got the wrong answer or they didn’t know the answer, the dead people win but if there are less, the alive people win. Even though, if one of the alive people who became dead answers correctly who the murderer is, then the person becomes alive again and the amount of alive-death people decrease.
Then, you’ll see who’s the winner is.
